SAVE THE DATE!

We are organizing a state and national effort on September 5th, 2020 for Essential Family Caregivers to do what they do, take care of their family members. July 4th many complained that visits could not be held outside and we strongly believe this was due to short staffing as usual. We heard some facilities couldn’t even turn on fireworks on TV for the residents.

We are not letting this happen Labor Day Weekend. Families will be taking those family members out that they can safely for a few hours to do whatever it is they are in need of. Whether it’s just going for a car ride, going to a park, visiting at their loved ones home, or going out to get a haricut or hairstyle. Families are not going to let them continue to mentally and physically decline due to isolation in their rooms and without their Essential Family Caregiver or Essential Visitor Allowed to visit them in their rooms.

For those that can’t leave, their families will be holdling signs outside in support of allowing one Essential Family Giver in the facility to visit.

We realize they will probably have to be quarantined for 14 days or until a negative test comes back. However, many have been quarantined since March.

These are their homes. There is no stay at home orders. They are not prisoners locked up. It is illegal for them not to be allowed to leave. and return.

We can’t ask any nicer than we have to get these issues resolved in long-term care facilities. For so many deaths, there is rarely meaningful state updates on tv although we watch every week hopefully.

This is one reason they want an immunity law that includes long term care, so they can take away the legal rights residents have.

Since we are given no other solutions and continue to be ignored, we have to use residents rights while they still have them.

More updates to come.
