ODH Amended Order for Visiting January 6 2021

Read here the full amended order

Some things to note: This order states that the facilities must update the visiting dashing board on the Ohio Covid Dashboard. We thought this was already being done so families would know current status of visiting status. However, it has been reported by a family member that although the dashboard shows all visiting is allowed (all yes checks to outside, inside and window visits), there is actually no visits being allowed. This tool is not helpful if it is not updated. Hopefully this part of the order will be one followed.

Also, the order lists what is taken into consideration for visits to be engaged, however, it lacks including Federal Guidelines that state there must be a medical or clinical reason for visits not to happen or facilities can be cited. It also lacks including the Federal Government has set actual guidelines in positivity rates in the community to determine when community spread should affect visiting. We are disappointed that was not included.

Of high importance, compassionate care visits has been expanded to include other situations other than end of life. If you feel you qualify for these visits, you should be requesting them. If the facility does not agree, the Ohio Long Term Care Ombudsman has stated they will be assisting in reviewing and assisting in these situations.
