This shows what taking away regular outside oversight and taking away from the resident access to one primary support person leads to…..these residents in long-term care were left to fend, protect and advocate for themselves when many could not. Then, the passed an immunity law that would include protecting facilities. It was very clear where the priorities were, it was never the residents. The only thing that was done was lock them up and shut out the outside world for the most part.. This is what those in power called protecting the residents from Covid. They left them unprotected from coivid, neglect and isolation. That resulted in many deaths that never had a chance to be avoided.
